As Dante and Virgil encounter the sinners in the Vestibule of Hell, they witness the Opportunists. These sinners are known for their indifference as they chose to chase to their own interests instead of choosing a side in the battle between Heaven and Hell. Think about your own personal lives and consider the concept of those whom might be considered as Opportunists. Are there people like this your classes? Do you know people like this outside of school? Explain why you would consider them like that, according to how Alighieri explains these sinners. At least 5 sentences. |

An opportunist is one who focuses on advancing themselves and not worrying about the morals. The most times I have experienced opportunists is in sports. Times like when a quarterback would keep the ball and not throw it in football. Or when a running back wouldn't follow blockers and try to make a more epic play. In conclusion, almost everyone becomes a opportunist at sometimes, but that doesn't make them on who is always looking to better themselves and not being concerned about others.

Throughout our lives, we're all going to encounter many opportunists. I personally have met a good amount of them through school and out of school activities. In both situations, the people would do things that only benefit themselves by twisting things around or discrediting others. I consider them to be like the opportunists that Alighieri describes since they want to benefit themselves. However, the people I know that do this are not as extreme as those described by Alighieri because they're not so bad that they'd go to hell for it.

Dante Alighieri describes these opportunists as being people who chase after every opportunity in life but only for themselves. Also, that they never made choice of choosing God or Satan. For example, in our lives there are people who we call Atheists. I don't know any one in particular, but they are surrounding us in our everyday life. These are people who don't believe in any God or Satan. I consider these people opportunists because since they don't believe in anything they do what they do on Earth just for themselves and not for God.

In Canto III, we meet the Opportunists. An opportunist is someone who chases opportunities that benefit themselves personally. An example in society today could be a sales person. This is because they always trying to bargain a better deal that profits them regardless of the effect on the client. I know several people like this in my own life.

I would consider people opportunists if they do not have a focus in life. Someone that lives life without worries or cares but when an opportunity comes their way they would take it to make them look better. An example of this selfish action would be working in a group activity and taking someone else's idea to make you look good. The opportunists in The Inferno are also referred to as indifferent, someone who does not care about the outcome of something. An example of this would be like the Super Bowl last night if you did not care which team won, you would be considered indifferent.

I would explain an opportunist as someone who only thinks about themselves. They chase opportunities in life that only benefit them and no one else. There are many people like this at my school. The world is full of opportunists of all ages. They do things to benefit themselves and not others.

In life people like this are encountered every day. Dante describes opportunist as people who are only concerned about what goes well for them. I see this as people who are selfish in their lives. There are always selfish people and they are encountered inside and outside of school. I ussaly see people being selfish inside of school because people find it easier to take advantage of their closer peers because they have an established trust so taking advantage of them is easy because they trust the person using them.

Opportunists people I don't look or see i don't focus on them. The people I know how are is people I meet for the first time. I don't let people like them in my life. Opportunists are once want what best for them all the time. Sometimes I don't see it at first but then I do I don't want them in my life. Opportunists are trying to help and do what best for them all the time and not help other.

Some opportunist that I see in and out of school are mainly people that care about them self not really about the life's of others. Like smokers in the family or people that do extreme drugs they care about them self and don't care about how their family looks at the situation.

A opportunities is someone that chases after things that will help themselves . Their are opportunities in everyone's life in my opinion. A reason I think a lot of people are opportunities is because most people worry about themselves rather then others. I also feel like tons of people do things for others. A way people do things for others is when people donates to charity. I feel like Many people have meet or know a opportunities that only cares about themselves and that should inspire people to be kind to each other.

The opportunists are the people who take advantage of certain opportunities. I know a lot of people like this. I may consider myself one. In baseball if I see that a batter is afraid of the ball I throw inside on him and strike him out. My parents are like this too, they take advantage of opportunities to better themselves

In the story it talks about angels that did not choose to fallow heaven or hell. This reminds me of atheist. they don't fallow God or the Devil. They do not believe in ether. Not just atheist but agnostics as well. They don't like picking a side between atheism and religion.

I believe Opportunist are most like tax collectors. They are most like them because they will not give up until they get what they want. They take from people. Taking from peoples hard earnings. Therefore, tax collectors are the most like the Opportunists in Hell
Megan

Opportunists are people who are only concerned for themselves, and Dante also defines them as people who do not take a side with Heaven or Hell. They are very common today, and while not as extreme as the people in Inferno, they still seek to only benefit themselves and are selfish. Sometimes people make choices that are only for them, and don't realize it could affect someone else. Comments are closed.
