Reflecting on the grafters in Circle 8 Bolgia 5, think about times in your life where graft has been prevalent. In the situation, were you the one on the giving or receiving end of graft? Explain the situation and compare and contrast it to the sinner whom Dante addresses in this Bolgia. At least 5 sentences.

I have been on the receiving end of a graft with my sister. My sister will pay me to clean her room. I feel like I am just getting paid to do a job. However, we agree to not tell my mom that Nikki is failing to perform her chores. Thus I am accepting money to keep quiet. We are both being deceiving my mom. In this Circle 8 Bolgia 5, Ciampolo is a grafter who then deceives his guards, the devils, into thinking he will help them but he actually tricks them.

I have had times with my little brothers where I have payed my brothers to do my chores for me if I am in a rush to go somewhere. I have never made my brothers give me money if they ask me to cover up for them or something like that. other times in my life where I have owed money to friends or my brothers, i don't always give back because it slips my mind.. I have also had friends who have said they would pay me something in return or give me a favor in return but never have, on purpose. Similarly, they're like tricks like Ciampolo tends to do.

I haven't really been on either side of grafting except like once. I'm not gonna lie at my old school I paid my one friend to do my math homework for me but that's it. It was funny though because the answers ended up being wrong. Then my parents have paid me to do chores when I was little but I don't count that. Obviously in Bolgia 5, these sins were on a much larger scale. Ciampolo ended up in hell because of it and he tricks the Devils in an attempt to escape his punishment.

I have been on the side of receiving graft. My mom would always bribe my sister and I to do or try new things. Of course my sister would always go along with what my mom wanted us to do. Me on the other hand would always say no and turn down the money. Just like Ciampolo he tricks people and minipulates them to think he's doing one thing but actually doing another. Ciampolo eventually tricks the demons and returns to his boiling pitch.

I have been on the receiving end of a graft. Just like most siblings, my brother will try to bribe be to do things that he's supposed to do. Or sometimes he will trick me into doing something that he was asked to do. This is somewhat similar to ciampolo. He tried to trick the devil in order to try and escape his punishment.

I have seen grafting happen before when I went to a steelers game and saw the person selling tickets for drinks at the bar. I thought at the time it was all cool but then I found out yesterday's it was a sin

I have been on the reciving and giving ends of graft with my little brothers. My little brothers try to bribe me if he wants something. This usual occurs if he wants me to do something with him like go outside. It also happenes if he wants some of my food he tries to bribe me for it. My two younger brothers always bribe each other to make each other so stuff the other dosnt want to.

I have been on the receiving end of graft. I once was paid by my brother because he didn't want to be caught breaking a vase of my Mother's. He asked me to keep quiet and to not mention the vase. I happily excepted the money and I kept my mouth shut. Eventually, the story came out and My brother and I got into trouble.

When I was younger, I used to borrow clothes from my sister for money. She would take the money and I would borrow her clothes. My mom didn't know and once she found out she made my siste give all my money back. This is like Ciampolo and how he make a face at the main demon after Dante and Virgil agree to ride with him.

I've been on the receiving end of graft. My mom sometimes will give a dollar to take out the garbage or go into the garage to get something for her it's not really a big deal and normally I would just do it but any form of bribe is considered graft. That's exactly what the devil ciampolo does when he tricks his devil minions to do what he wants for him b/c they think he's helping them, but really he isn't it's a bribe

There has been a few times when I have encountered Grafter or I have been the Grafter. The biggest thing that I know of is when colleges and universities recruit highschool kids. Schools offer lots of kids money so that they will go to their school and play sports for them. This is not too harmful but it is a good example. Unlike Dante though most of these kids are not tricked while they are being bribed, Dante was tricked by the sinners to talk to the demons so that the sinner could escape.

I have definitely bribed someone before. I don't do it too often but if I need something done i usually do it. Comparing it to ciampolo I wouldn't say that it's as serious. After all he even tried tricking the demons. I should stop bribing though

Graft is not very present in my life, and never really has been. However, there have been times where people have tried to bribe me, but they are for meaningless things such as food. There have been other times in my life where the sin is worse. There have been people throughout my life who have tried to bribe me for things such as homework. I am not perfect and I can admit that I have bribed some one for school work before too. For example, during mid term week I would "trade" my study guide for others that I needed. I believe that graft occurs all the time in our society, but most of it is nor nearly as serious as the graft that Dante was falsely accused of.

Grafting is a very bad sin. Dante treats these sinners so poorly because to a politician bribery is the cardinal sin. We still see it sometimes today. it doesn't happen very often but when it does it is a huge deal.

I haven't really had graft in my life. Since I don't have siblings I really don't have to worry about graft that much. In my lifetime i have experienced some graft and blackmail. Today graft is a hard thing to get away from. Dante's graft was way more serious than contemporary graft.

I once before was bribed to give a friend homework in return for money. I was the receiver of the bribe as I went along with the deal. This is no where near as severe as the sinners in this bolgia, but nonetheless it's still grafting. I've learned from this situation as I was caught doing this action. One I won't ever do again.

I have been in a situation where graft was prevelant in my life. When I was in middle school,(7th grade), there were times when people would ask others to send homework answers via iPhone in exchange for random and/or miscellaneous things like pencils, pens and stuff along those lines. I wasn't really the one who participated in that, because I do my homework either at home, in a study hall, and at sometimes any free moment at school. I was basically a witness to grafters doing what they do best at this time in my life. In a sense this could count as a bribe, but when compared to the grafters in the Inferno it's clearly not as major of a sin as these spirits. It's good for me that I didn't participate in this, because whenever they got caught, they got in trouble, just like how the grafters in the bolgia got caught and in trouble, only not as bad.
